The Civil Affairs Department 11 (Director Park Tae-il) at the Seoul Western District Court held the first hearing preparation date for an inheritance recovery suit filed by Koo's mother, Kim Young-sik, his younger sister, LG Welfare Foundation CEO Koo Yeon-kyung and Koo Yeon-soo on the 18th.
Chairman Koo and his three mothers and daughters were not obliged to attend the meeting, so only their legal representatives attended.
Earlier, Kim, the wife of the late former chairman Koo Bon-moo, and her two daughters filed a lawsuit against Koo in February, saying, "Let's split the inherited property again."
"I thought there was a will," the three mother and daughter said, insisting that the assets should be divided again according to the legal inheritance ratio (1.5 per spouse to 1 per child).
On the other hand, Koo's legal representative said, "We divided the property in November 2018, and the transfer of the name of the property led to disclosure and media reports," adding, "The lawsuit filed for more than four years is inappropriate due to the lapse of the exclusion period."
"It was carried out according to the intention of the speed, and there was no problem in the process," he said. "I don't know what it legally means that there was no accurate understanding and consent at the time of the division."
The two sides agreed to adopt Kang Yoo-sik, former vice chairman of the LG Management Development Institute, and Ha Beom-jong, president of the company, as witnesses.
The next hearing is scheduled for October 5.
